Can I get off at Bathampton?
Yes, you pay a one way fare of £5 on the boat. If you return you pay another £5 on the boat for the return journey.
How long is the trip?
One hour. Half an hour upriver from Pulteney Weir, then it’s another half hour back to Bath where we wait 20 minutes before we start the next one hour round trip.
Do you run throughout the year?
No. Our main cruising season is from Easter to October. Trips may be undertaken outside of these times. However, if the river is flooded or the weather atrocious, no boats will be running.
Which days are there trips?
We cruise seven days a week.
Where can we buy tickets?
There’s no need to buy them in advance. We collect the fares on board. It may be wise to call us to reserve a space for a group. We do not accept cards.
Is there a live commentary?
Yes, after welcoming you on board we leave you in peace to enjoy the trip upriver from Pulteney Bridge, then on the return to Bath we have an informative and (some people think) entertaining commentary.
Can we start the trip at Bathampton?
Yes, you can start the trip from either Bath or Bathampton. You may find it easier to park in Bathampton.
Can I get off the boat and return on a later one?
Yes, as long as there is room on the returning boat.
Can we simply take a one-way trip?
Yes, many people walk back to Bath along the towpath of the Kennet & Avon canal, which is just over two miles and takes you under two delightful early iron footbridges and through Sidney Gardens.
How long can I stay in Bath or Bathampton before catching the return boat ride?
Check with the drivers what time the last trip will be that day.
Do I need to book?
No, parties of under 15 can just turn up.
